It was a light weekend, with just three different South programs in action.
In the EJHL South, the Space Coast Hurricanes beat the Florida Eels 4-2 on Friday. Jack Musil led the ‘Canes with 2 goals and an assist, Parker Bonis made 38 saves. Brody Wagner had 38 saves for the Eels. Space Coast beat the Eels on Saturday, 3-1. Musil again scored twice and Joseph MacConnell stopped 22 shots. Joey Giambalvo scored a power play goal for the eels, who got a 35 save performance from Wagner.
In the Empire South, Space Coast beat the Eels 5-3 on Saturday. Marc Vantour had 2 goals and an assist, while the power play scored 3 times in a staggering 17 chances. Travus McDonald made 27 saves for the Eels.
Also on Saturday, the East Coast Eagles beat the Frederick Freeze 5-0. Cody Smorgiassi made 37 saves, five different players scored goals and the penaly kill was a perfect 11-of-11.
On Sunday, East Coast topped the Freeze 4-1. Scott Jackson made 38 saves, with the PK going 8-of-8. Four different players scored goals for the Eagles.
The Hurricanes completed their weekend sweep of the Eels, winning Sunday 4-3. Vantour scored the winning goal at 14:22 of the third. Charles Ingram made 26 saves for the ‘Canes. Sean Gawel scored twice for Florida.
